Frequently Asked Questions

A bitmap (PNG, JPG, WebP) stores pixels — it gets blurry when you scale it up. A vector image (SVG, PDF, EPS) stores shapes and paths — it stays sharp at any size, which is why logos and icons are always vector.
Logos, icons, hand-drawn sketches, and high-contrast black-and-white images convert cleanly. Photographs (faces, landscapes) do not vectorize well because there are too many colours and soft gradients to capture as a small set of paths.
SVG is the best for the web and modern design tools (works in every browser since 2011). PDF is the most universal for print. EPS is the legacy format that some old print shops still require. This tool exports SVG; the other two can be generated from the SVG with Illustrator or Inkscape.
2 colours for logos and silhouettes (black-and-white mode), 4–8 for flat illustrations, 12–24 for posters and stylised art. More colours produce a larger SVG file with more paths.
Yes. You own the image you upload and the resulting SVG. The vectorizer engine (Imagetracer / VTracer family) is released under MIT-class licences, so the output has no attribution requirements.
